Simply Soup

"Simply Soup"

a concrete (delicious and nutritious) expression of our parish mission: "where one can feel the loving embrace of God". Our work is directed to "feeding the hungry" as our Lord asks in the Gospel.

Volunteer parishioners provided containers of soup to "Branches" in Rio Grande, Lazarus House in Wildwood and Victorian Towers in Cape May for distribution to the families and individuals they serve.

The soup is made fresh each month in the kitchen in our Parish Hall. Volunteers prepare, package, and deliver the soup. For this work of mercy, donations came in other forms as well. This money was used for pots, pans, kitchenware, produce, and soup package materials (microwavable containers, plastic utensils, napkins, crackers, and labels). Several local businesses contributed by offering produce for free or at a reduced price.

We will continue the mission. We invite your participation. Our first soup dates are October 7 after the 11:00AM Mass, and October 8 at 10:00AM. "Many hands make work light."

A special thank you to Tony's Produce in the Villas who provides us with our fresh vegetables monthly.

We are grateful to God and to all of you for the wonderful and generous outpouring of support. In the name of Jesus, you bring to life our faith, our parish mission and so add goodness to the lives of our neighbors in need.

September 2025 Update

Thank you to all for sharing your time, talent, and treasure for the 'Simply Soup' Ministry. We make approximately 400 cups of 40 gallons each month, with a total of 3200 cups of soup each year, chicken soup with vegetables and either rice, barley or pasta. It's delicious!

All costs continue to rise, and Donations/checks can be made out to:  Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish

and please put 'Simply Soup' on the memo line of your check.
God Bless you.
